Recipe

1. 

all-purpose flour / plain flour 8 oz (225 g)  powdered sugar 2.75 oz (80 g)  baking powder for gingerbread 0.5 tsp  unsalted butter 5.25 oz (150 g)  egg yolk 1 pc

Mix sugar and baking powder in flour. Add chopped butter and egg yolk. Work the dough.

2. 

cocoa powder 1 tsp

Split the dough into one third and two thirds. Incorporate cocoa powder in the smaller part of the dough. Place both parts in the cold place for one hour.

3.

Flour the board and use a rolling pin to spread the pale dough until it is about 3 - 4 mm thin. Cut out stars.

4.

Transfer stars to the baking tin lined with parchment paper and brush them with beaten egg.

Use a rolling pin to spread the dark part of dough on floured board until it is about 3 - 4 mm thin. Cut out stars.

6. 

vanilla sugar  cinnamon sugar

Lay dark stars on top of the pale ones and again brush them with beaten egg. Sprinkle the dark stars with cinnamon or vanilla sugar.

7. 

Bake for 8 minutes at 180 °C.

8. 

Remove the stars from baking tin just when they are cold.
